Last night it took me an hour to fall asleep. Ayumi was up all night watching anime on youtube. I eventually fell asleep... with the Kanon theme song stuck in my head.
In the morning, I saw Chris walking to his first class. He looked like he had been up all night.
"I was up all night...." He said when I asked him what was wrong, "Studying."
What a shock.
He blinked tiredly at me and walked on. Hmm, that wasn't very interesting. Chris studies, it's normal.
Chris apparently has a bunch of classes with Ayumi, she's always talking about him. Dejavoo. I don't think she had a crush on him, though. Thank god, I was so sick of that crap. Last year, when we were seniors in high school, twelve girls asked Chris to homecoming. Twelve.
I caught on that Ayumi wore a different costume and crazy hairstyle every day. She called it "Cosplay". Yesterday she was Amu from Shugo Chara. I've started learning the names of more anime and manga stuff. It's kind of hard not to when you live with someone like Ayumi. She always talks about that stuff and actually has dozens of boxes of Manga books that she refuses to get rid of (Don't try to convince her, I did once; Big mistake).
When I was doing my homework, my phone rang for the billionth time.
"Hi, Chris." I said into the phone.
"Angie?" I heard Chris's small voice come from the phone, "Hi! How are you?"
I sighed, "I'm fine, Chris. You should know that after calling me five times in the past two hours."
There was a silence before Chris said, "Um... Hey, Angie. I need some.... ice... f-for my blender! Yeah, ice for my blender!"
I groaned, "Blenders don't need ice to work, Chris. Plus, how do you even have a blender?"
Chris laughed nervously, "W-well, my blender does. You know what? You should come bring some ice..."
I sighed again, "Chris, get it yourself."
"B-but..." He protested, "My.... legs are broken."
I snorted, "Nice try, Chris. Don't you have homework to do?"
"No, I did it all an hour ago." Chris said casually.
"What? All of it?" I said in disbelief.
"Yeah. Now, hey, you should come over here. My blender is dying!"
"Chris, don't be stupid." I said, "You just want me to come over there because you're lonely and you're afraid of Jake." Another silence.
"Nope. Uh-uh, that's not it. My blender is broken."
"Shouldn't you be more worried about your busted legs than your busted blender?" I grinned to myself.
"H-how about you just bring some ice...." Chris stuttered.
"Chris," I said, "You don't need ice, your legs aren't broken, and I highly doubt you even have a blender."
"If you come over I'll show it to you." Chris said quickly. Man, this kid was desperate.
I groaned, "You did all your homework."
"Yes! I did." Chris said anxiously.
"You need ice...." I said, mad at myself for doing this, "For your blender."
"Yep. Are you coming?" Chris said, a little squeal to his voice.
I hesitated, "Sure, I'll be right over."
"Okay! I'll see you in a few!" Chris said excitedly, hanging up.
I groaned, standing up and getting my jacket. I told Ayumi I was going to Chris's dorm, but she was too sucked into her anime to hear me (I got her a pair of earphones for a... just a friendship present.
I walked to Chris's dorm and knocked on the door. When it opened, a dart flew across the room and shot into the wall, inches away from my face. I whirled around, hoping to find the source of the dart.
Sure enough, Chris's roommate, Jake, was sitting on the back of the crappy couch in the middle of the room. He studied me, looking me up and down.
"You Chris's girl?" Jake asked flatly.
"Um, no." I said, "I'm his-"
Just then, Chris jumped out and hugged me.
"Angieeeee!!!" He cried cheerily, "You came! You really came!"
"Looks like your legs are fixed." I said flatly.
Chris looked down at his legs and said, "Oh, Angie! It's a miracle!"
"So, Chris," I said, smirking, "Where's your blender?"
Jake raised an eyebrow and lit a cigarette. Chris stuttered, "Oh, um.... it.... fell out the window..."
I patted my brother's shoulder, "Sure it did, Chris."
We stood in silence for a second and Chris squealed excitedly, "I can't believe you're really here, Angie!"
He hugged me again and I sighed.
"I love you, Angieee!" Chris cooed happily. Wow, way to act your age, man. He was pretty cute, I must admit, but it was a bit awkward, Chris being seventeen and all....
He hasn't really changed much since high school.
Jake studied us for a few seconds, turned the T.V. up, and ignored us for the rest of my visit.
Chris sat me down on his bed and sat down next to me.
"So...." I said, "You're actually friends with... Er... Ayumi?" I asked.
Chris nodded, "Yeaaahh she's awesome! Look what she showed me!"
He lifted up his pillow, revealing four or five manga books. Oh geez....
Chris beamed and I raised an eyebrow at him, "Are you serious, Chris?"
He nodded excitedly, "Yeah! See? This one is Fruits Basket, this one is Shugo Chara, this one is Kare Kano, this one is Tokyo Mew Mew-"
I snorted, "You read Tokyo Mew Mew?"
Chris nodded again, "Yeah. You've heard of it?"
"Yeah," I said, "Ayumi cosplayed as Ichigo What's-her-face last week."
"Momomiya," Chris said quietly.
"What?"
"Nothing."
I picked up one of the books and read the back. Er... Front? It was hard to tell, the books were all kind of backwards. I picked up another and read the description. Almost all of them were girly cutesy Japanese comic books about love and high school.
I rolled my eyes and tossed the book to Chris, "You have fun with that."
Chris and I talked about Ayumi and Japan for a bit more. Well, what I mean by that is Chris talked about Ayumi and Japan and I just sat there, bored out of my mind.
I eventually stood up and said, "Okay, Chris. I have to go do homework now."
Chris's face fell and he said, "What? Why?"
"Because I don't finish all my homework in an hour." I said flatly, "That's just you."
Chris looked down sadly and said, "Okay, Angie."
I nodded and walked to the door.
"I love you." Chris said, sulking.
I managed a smile and said half-heartedly, "You too, Chris."
I closed the door behind me and went back to my dorm.
Geez, that kid will never grow up, will he?
